A 0.035 inch access guidewire costs about Rs 650 to Rs 1,500 in India, and a 0.014 inch PTCA (angioplasty) guidewire about Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,900, based on Medikabazaar and IndiaMART listings in November 2026. Specialty and CTO wires cost about Rs 5,000 to Rs 9,000 each.

How Much Does a Guidewire Cost?

A guidewire is a thin wire that goes into the blood vessel first. Sheaths, catheters, balloons and stents then slide over it to the right place. Price depends mainly on the size, the coating and the job the wire does.

TypeTypical usePrice per wire (Nov 2026)
PTFE-coated access wire, 0.035 inch, 150 cm, J tipGetting a sheath or diagnostic catheter into the arteryAbout Rs 650 to Rs 700
Hydrophilic access wire, 0.035 inch, 150 cmCrossing bends in the access vesselAbout Rs 780 to Rs 1,500
Long exchange wire, 260 cmSwapping one catheter for anotherAbout Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,350
PTCA workhorse wire, 0.014 inchMost routine angioplasty casesAbout Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,900
Specialty, pre-shaped and CTO wires, 0.014 inchHard blockages and chronic total occlusionsAbout Rs 5,000 to Rs 9,000

Most PTCA wire listings fall between Rs 2,500 and Rs 3,900, though a few basic ones are listed near Rs 1,000. Prices come from Medikabazaar and IndiaMART listings. Some include GST and some add it. Marketplace listings vary a lot, so compare written quotes with the same size, length and coating.

For how to choose between workhorse, support and CTO coronary wires, see our coronary guidewire selection guide.

How Many Guidewires Does a Cath Lab Use?

Every procedure uses at least one access wire. Each angioplasty uses at least one 0.014 inch wire, and hard cases use more. Wires are single-use, so stock follows your case count.

As a simple example, a lab doing 40 angioplasties a month needs at least 40 access wires and 40 PTCA wires. At the prices above that is about Rs 26,000 to Rs 60,000 for access wires and about Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.56 lakh for PTCA wires a month, before any specialty wires. This is our estimate, not a usage norm.

Guidewire Price in India: Key Facts

Guidewire Price in India: FAQs

What is the price of a PTCA guidewire in India?

A 0.014 inch PTCA workhorse guidewire costs about Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,900 in India, based on IndiaMART listings in November 2026. Specialty, pre-shaped and CTO wires cost about Rs 5,000 to Rs 9,000 each.

What is the price of a 0.035 guidewire in India?

A 0.035 inch, 150 cm PTFE-coated J-tip access guidewire costs about Rs 650 to Rs 700, and a hydrophilic one about Rs 780 to Rs 1,500, based on Medikabazaar and IndiaMART listings in November 2026.

What is the difference between a 0.014 and a 0.035 guidewire?

A 0.035 inch wire is thicker and is used to place sheaths and diagnostic catheters. A 0.014 inch wire is thin enough to carry coronary balloons and stents into the heart arteries during angioplasty.

What is the difference between PTFE and hydrophilic guidewires?

PTFE is a smooth, low-cost coating that lets catheters slide easily. A hydrophilic coating becomes very slippery when wet, so it crosses tight or twisted vessels, but it needs more care to steer safely.

Can guidewires be reused?

No. Guidewires are sold as single-use devices. Use a new wire for each patient and follow the instructions on the pack.
