Blood Tubing Set Price in India: Cost per Session and What to Check
Buying blood lines for a dialysis unit, big or small? This guide gives 2026 prices, the yearly cost per patient and per unit, the specs to check and what the government says about reuse.
A blood tubing set for dialysis costs about Rs 103 to Rs 135 per set in India when bought in bulk packs, based on Medikabazaar listings in November 2026. Small lots from local dealers cost about Rs 180 to Rs 320 per set. A patient on dialysis three times a week needs 156 sets a year.
How Much Does a Blood Tubing Set Cost?
A blood tubing set (also called blood lines or an AV set) is the pair of tubes that carries blood from the patient to the dialyser and back. Price depends mostly on how many you buy at once.
| How you buy | Price per set (2026) | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Bulk packs, Indian-made, online | About Rs 103 to Rs 135 | Medikabazaar, Nov 2026 |
| Small lots from local dealers | About Rs 180 to Rs 320 | Our dialyser price guide |
Watch the gap between list price and selling price. Some packs show an MRP of about Rs 370 to Rs 410 per set but sell for around Rs 105 to Rs 116. Compare quotes on the price you will pay, with GST and delivery shown. Some listings include GST and some do not.
What Does It Cost per Patient and per Unit?
Every session uses a new set. That makes the yearly cost easy to work out.
| Case | Sets needed | Cost at Rs 103 to Rs 135 a set | Cost at Rs 180 to Rs 320 a set |
|---|---|---|---|
| One patient, 3 sessions a week | 156 a year | About Rs 16,000 to Rs 21,000 a year | About Rs 28,000 to Rs 50,000 a year |
| 10-machine unit, 3 shifts, 26 days a month | 780 a month | About Rs 80,000 to Rs 1.05 lakh a month | About Rs 1.4 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh a month |
These are our estimates from the prices above. A 10-machine unit that buys in bulk instead of small lots saves about Rs 35,000 to Rs 1.7 lakh a month on blood lines alone, so it pays to buy in packs once you have found a set that fits your machines.

What Is in a Blood Tubing Set?
- Arterial line (red): takes blood from the patient's needle or catheter to the blood pump and on to the dialyser.
- Venous line (blue): brings the cleaned blood back to the patient.
- Pump segment: a thicker piece of tube that sits in the machine's roller pump.
- Drip chambers: let air bubbles rise out of the blood before it goes back to the patient.
- Pressure lines: link to the machine through transducer protectors so it can watch pressures.
- Side lines: for heparin, saline and priming, with clamps and caps.
What to Check Before You Buy
A Gujarat government tender on GeM (June 2026) shows the specs most buyers ask for:
| Spec | What the GeM catalogue asks for |
|---|---|
| Patient type | Adult |
| Tubing type | Post-pump |
| Parts | Arterial and venous lines |
| Colour coding | Yes |
| Material | Medical-grade PVC |
| Tube length | 100 cm or more, within 5% |
| Priming volume | 150 ml or less |
- Machine fit: the pump segment and line layout must suit your dialysis machine. Share your machine model with the supplier before ordering.
- Pre-pump or post-pump: this tells you where the arterial drip chamber sits compared with the blood pump. Buy the type your machine and unit protocol use.
- Priming volume: this is the blood or saline needed to fill the set. Smaller is better for small or unwell patients. India's dialysis programme lists 40 to 50 ml tubing for children.
- Sterile and single use: check the sterilisation method (gamma or ETO) and that each set is packed on its own.
- Air removal and kinks: look at the drip chamber design and ask for kink-resistant tubing.
Can Blood Tubing Sets Be Reused?
No. The 2026 Operational Guidelines for the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme say blood lines, transducer protectors, IV sets and catheters should not be reused. The same guidelines let a dialyser be reused up to 5 times for the same patient, but never for patients with hepatitis B, hepatitis C or HIV.
So plan your budget for one new set every session, even if your unit reuses dialysers.
