Newborns lose heat fast, especially premature and low birth weight babies. A radiant warmer has a heater above an open bed, so staff can reach the baby easily while the baby stays warm.
In servo (skin) mode, a small probe on the baby's skin reads the temperature and the warmer adjusts its heat to keep the baby at the set value. In manual mode, staff set the heater output themselves. The Premium N-400 adds LED phototherapy, the blue light used to treat newborn jaundice.
